most of people (including me... at least at the beginning) don't like german because they think it is a tough and violent language.
I guess this is due to the documentary about Hitler and so, where hard military voices are speaking all along the documentary.
Those are the only and few ways for most of people to see and to listen to german speaking. Whereas watching a single german movie could help to spread the idea of a smooth and beautiful language for german. To my mind, german can be a very interesting language... except when you've to say number like "555 555" for those who know a little german ^^. In this case it's not german anymore, more like a rainy day for the interlocutor x)
It is my point of view.

Nonetheless i've only studied german two years, then I have only kept English and Spanish. But I'll keep very happy memories of both years forever x)

Edit :
Noobman, you're saying that you're not that good in english, but do you have ever read a manga in english on the web ? I have a friend who has almost learnt english this way ! It's pretty funny I think ^^

You're probably right. =O And that's sad, 'cause german is a beautiful language : many authors and artists proved it many times : Mozart, Beethoven, Goethe, Wagn... Oops, no. :mrgreen:

The only difficulty is the vocabulary, and I think that's the case for almost every language ....

Pronunciation are very difficult in Chinese because of the five way to pronounce the same "word" (I don't like to use the word "word" for chinese :x )

But there is no grammar ! :D (You are a girl ? You are a Boy ? You are a dog ? I don't care !)

Great. I'am not the only one. Someone is learning japanese. But I think that japanese and chinese are completly different.

私=わたし=me, I,...
一人=ひとり=this is how we count persons :
  1=ひとり (一人)
  2=ふたり (二人)
  3=さんにん (三人)
  4=よにん (四人)
etc.
I am alone : watashi wa hitori desu -> négation watashi wa hitori dewaarimasen (or jaarimasen)

だれか=somebody, someone
が particle of the subject
を particule of the direct object
べんきょう study.
します -> する : to do
The rest of the sentence is a little more complex
とおもいます meens "I think" (because the theme, the speaker is わたし) (という->といます meens I say for example:あなたわわたしのぶんがへんだといます。you say than my sentenxe is strange)
ちがう is an adj for different
the て forme describes a continues action (in the past or not) and looks a little to the -ing forme in english.
ぜんぜん=completly, totaly

Re: What is your level in english ?

我学中文学三年了。我也很喜欢日文。 I learned chinese for 3 years, I very like japanses too.

日文比中文不难学, 不过日文比音文很难学。 Japanese is less diffcult than chinese, but it's more difficult than english...

我想中文和日文不一样 , 可是他们很有意思 ! I think Chinese and Japanese are different, but they are very interesting to learn ! :D

When I write "Ma" in a chinese editor keyboard, I can choose between : 吗 妈马 嘛 麻 骂 抹 码 玛 蚂 . All "sinogrammes" means something different (Here, one means Mom, another means Horse etc...) and there is just a little difference of pronunciation between each...

Chinese is very easy :mrgreen:

O português é uma lingua muito interessante. De mais, o Brasil vai a ser uma das proximas forças dominantes do mundo. Eu tenho de practicar o meu português porque quero passà-lo nos "Concours" em 2011. Hà alguém aqui que sabe falar o português também (ou o português do brasil) ?

I think we should create a new topic which would gather many languages and not only the english one.

The portuguese language is very interesting. Moreover, Brazil is about to be one of the most powerful countries of the world. I've to practice my portuguese because I want to do an oral exam in portuguese in 2011. Is there anybody speaking portuguese here too (or portuguese of Brazil) ?

Satisfied ? ;)

And please never compare portuguese and spanish. Spanish is an horror compared to portuguese which is much more natural (and I know what I'm talking about, I've learned both of these languages)

Perhaps near the border, yes. Because I tried it with my radio in Toulouse, and I listened a spanish radio (the quality was bad, certainly because of the distance, so I gave up ).
But I have doubts about an english radio.

How have they done in the resistance to listen to the BBC ?

Using AM mode, you can receive further radios.
Using FM mode, you can only get regional radios:D
If I remember correctly (who said MPI ???) hmmm AM radios get every signals availables and FM radios only get powerful signals (which are closer to you)
So the signal is way better with FM waves !
AM should work but not sure cause I don't have any radios :P
